Classic Car Show Gears Up On February 26th
Car enthusiasts are counting the days until the 8th Annual Classic Car and Hot Rod Show, which will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Historic Downtown Chandler.
The event will showcase pre-1980 cars and hot rods of a variety of makes and models, according to Maury Williamson, owner of Country Clipper Barber Shop, who is the chief organizer of this year’s show. This is the 7th annual show for Historic Downtown Chandler and it is expected that 300 cars will be showcased. In addition to the cars, there will be live entertainment by the bands Pan Head Ronny and Star, a Beer Garden, a Food Court featuring downtown restaurants and arts & crafts vendors.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to support I.C.A.N., Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods, an organization focused on enhancing opportunities for area youth through Family, Community and Youth programs.
Last year's show attracted some 20,000 visitors and included a local collector’s most recent purchase at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. Williamson said that some very unique “crowd pleasers” will be on display again this year. Visitors are encouraged to utilize the two parking structures on the east side of Arizona Avenue, which can be accessed from E. Buffalo and E. Boston Streets.
Sponsors for the car show include the Country Clipper Barber Shop, Crown Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort, Doehrman Company, SanTan Sun News, Cobblestone Car Wash, Thorobred Chevrolet and the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership.
