||Friday, May 16th-
Saturday, May 17th, 2014
6:00pm - 9:00pm
Starts At 4:00pm
Children 11 & Under
The event will feature drag racing for pre-’73 cars (with the lanes open all event long and old school flag starts at various times), nitro cackles, push starts and burnouts all night long, the 2014 Arizona Drag Racing Hall of Fame inductions, vendor areas, a great collection of nostalgia dragsters, funny cars, gassers and other race cars on display in a special mall area, and the event-ending Nitro Blast with many historic race cars lighting up the night and burning a lot of nitro together in front of the stands.
The wild and wooly Western Fuel Altereds will be back with a minimum of 8 cars. All of the altereds will run at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m with the two fastest returning cars at 9:30 p.m. for the money round. The Inliners will also be running a race for their cars.
There will also be a special car display area for pre-'73 street rods, hot rods, race cars, and custom cars inside the pits on Saturday night. Best of all: the car display area is absolutely free! You pay only the $10 general admission.
You get to park inside the track area in the pits next to all of the action and to participate in the car display for free. For info on the car display area call Joe and Nancy Owens at (520) 955-1331.
The Reunion will again be held at Southwestern International Raceway. The track's shop and concessions will be open during the event on Saturday night and during the free Friday Night Meet & Greet.
The free Friday Night Meet and Greet will be at the track from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will give spectators the chance to meet drivers and car owners and to see and hear nitro cars in a preview of Saturday night’s non-stop action.
On Saturday gates will open for spectators at 4 p.m. and the action will start at 6 p.m. The pit gates will be open all day for racers. The track will go hot at noon for test and tune. Tech cards are also available if you want to run your car on the track. The starting line grandstand will be reserved and is only $5 more. All other grandstands are free.
